Getting new bloodlines every few years is very important in order to keep a viable bevy of peafowl. Whether you have a few or hundreds like us, we all need to find a good bloodline to add to our stock from time to time. Unfortunately many peafowl owners do not keep their peafowl long enough to worry about inbreeding. However, if you are one of the few who do keep your peafowl longer, you will need to add a new peafowl bloodline at least once every six years. Selecting a good line of peafowl is very hard today. Today, there is a big frenzy in the peafowl world to have one of the 'newest designer colors" of peafowl. We have written about this in our publication over the years. These new colors all started to arrive when the Cameo prices came down andsome breeders started to cross them to all the seven stable color types on the market In newsletter issue 14-5 we wrote about the "so called color types" of peafowl. This issue is a must read before you buy and ship in peafowl. One organization is now claiming that there are 185 approved varieties of peafowl. I have two words for this daim, "rubbish" &" balderdash"!
