Coating durability is a critical expectation of the architectural exterior paint market. In simple terms, end-customers want their homes to look freshly painted for as long as possible. To the eye, a 'freshly painted' appearance can be broken down into three main interrelated parts: excellent dirt pickup resistance (DPUR), tint (or colour) retention, and gloss retention. Recent observations within Dow's technical community suggest that paints made withTiO2-polymer composites offer improved gloss retention versus conventional / non-composite paints under both accelerated and environmental weathering.
