THIS year has again provided the usual repertoire of highlights and lowlights, but overall it has been a most enjoyable year with another wonderful group of students enjoying their experiences in all aspects of the Agriculture Technology course. Unfortunately, the dry weather has had a marked effect on production, with much of our budget going toward purchase of hay and other feedstuffs for the animals. However, we have maintained a small number of animals. A computerised weather recording station was purchased when Year 10 visited the Tocal Field Days. This has been very useful in measuring and recording climatic data. Some of the major highlights during 2005 have included: The introduction of a new Agriculture GATS Certificate which was introducedto extend those students with a real interest in and commitment to Agriculture. The course caters for three different Levels of Achievement ie Bronze, Silver and Gold, and includes a number of different components which the students must research. It has been very favourably and warmly accepted by approximately 25 talented Agriculture students ranging from Year 7 to Year 12. I am awaiting their submissions with great interest, as each student must present their findings as a slide-show power point presentation.
