Just how similar are Australian and Japanese cattle when it comes to their behaviour? Bob Kilgour, a NSW Department of Primary Industries (DPI) researcher, flew out of Australia, to find the answer to this question as part of a Meat and Livestock Australia (MLA) funded study fellowship. "The project will allow researchers to study the behaviour of cattle - like decision making, reaction times and fear of humans - under typical Japanese beef production conditions and compare the results to our work here in Australia," Mr Kilgour said.
