WITH feedlots becoming an increasing part of the beef supply chain this article looks at preparing cattle for feedlot entry. Cattle consigned to feedlots are transported, inducted, co-mingled and can be subjected to weather and dust extremes, injury and dehydration - myriad challenges, stres-sors and often infectious agents not previously encountered. Dr Kev Sullivan, veterinarian to the feedlot industry in south-east Queensland, said the way in which cattle handled these challenges had a big bearing on how they performed.
