Meet the new breed of veterinary practice managers and hospital administrators. They don't know veterinary medicine, but they know business. And according to Gwen Low-der, a recruiter with VetMgrCentral, they will continue to increase in number. Practice owners who choose only to look at candidates with veterinary practice experience are being shortsighted, she says. "Many outsiders have a higher level of management experience and have been in environments where many of the operational and human-resource protocols and procedures are light years ahead of ours."
