The Influence of population density on growth, tuber multiplication rate and yield of cut shoot of potato cv. Heera was investigated over 2 years, under nethouse conditions. Most of the growth characters such as foliage coverage, plant height, and number of leaves per plant were increased significantly at closer spacing. Number of tubers per plant and tuber weight per plant were increased significantly at wider spacings. Number of tubers per m~2 and weight of tubers per m~2 were increased at closer spacings, which also gave a higher proportion of seed size tubers. The 20x10 cm spacing gave a good number of tubers per plant with good average tuber weight and the highest tuber yield per hectare.
