REGULAR READERS will know that this is the time of year when we review progress with our 'Project GTI', the 2000 model year Mk 4 Golf GT11.8T which we bought from Volkswizard of Birmingham in July 2003. In fact it's quite a surprise to realise that is coming up to five years; we never imagined that it would be with us for quite so long, or that we'd still be finding things to do to it after all this time. A quick glance at the odometer puts things in perspective, though. The car is currently parked on the office forecourt with 211,889 miles showing on the clock, and the numbers are accruing at a steady rate. This is largely as a result of a daily commute which adds between 104 and 126 miles a day, depending on which route I take, quite apart from any special journeys for photoshoots and visits further afield.
