IF YOU FANCY saving on the price of your next new car, then buying through a broker could be the answer: the average discount you'll get on the 20 best-selling cars in Britain is a whopping 18%. Pick the right model and you'll save even more - how about ￡6600 off a Ford Focus? Or ￡4700 off a BMW 3 Series? You'd need to be hard-nosed to get close to those kinds of discounts by haggling with your local dealer, and the savings require nothing more taxing than logging onto a few websites and making some calls. The risk of ending up out of pocket is tiny if you stick to the rules, but even if you'd rather buy direct from a dealer, you should still log on to a few broker sites so you know how good a deal is possible.
