摘要

The runner of NJHPS suffers extensive silt erosion. To make up for the metal loss and approximately fix the blade profile these runners are repaired every year by welding and grinding process.The repair is carried out by austenitic electrode with no post weld heat treatment.Over the period after about 9 operating cycles it is observed that the weight of runner have reduced by about 5 tons (15%) and cracking of runner blades at exit has increased considerably. The runners of NJHPS has run for approx. 35000 hrs and approx. 65lac ton of silt has passed through the runners.The runners are fabricated type of Europeon origin. The lead time in purchasing or making the new runner available could be considerably high. Presently no vendor in India has the full capability to manufacture this runner of material 16/5 steel with fabricated structure.The runner is an important component for overall integrity of plant, therefore, it is necessary for SJVN to measure the risk and take the remedial actions in advance.
