It all starts with an open door. You take a walk down the hall, meet and chat with a colleague about a project. Now, the two of you brainstorm and together develop a new perspective. Then you try something—newer and bigger— something other than whateither would have done alone (The Einstein Effect: Synergy in Science and Medicine, 2007). Synergy—meaning "working together"—is a cooperative state of mind in which people with different skills work together to produce a result riot achievable by anyone person alone. In science and medicine, teamwork often produces an overall better result than if each person works independently.
