Eight LNG cargoes have been re-exported from Spain since the start of this year, versus none in the same period of 2011, as mild weather and economic crisis have cut gas demand, while power generators have turned to abundant supplies of cheap domestic coal. The bulk of the reloads have headed for the premium Asia.n market. Four went to Japan - which has been on the hunt for more LNG since its Fukushima nuclear disaster in March 2011 - one to India, and two to Argentina, according to WGI estimates based on trading sources, port websites and ship tracking. In addition, a small partial cargo was unloaded in Trinidad in June. One trader tells WGI: "Asian prices were at a high of $17-$ 18, while Europe since the beginning of the year has experienced weak demand with prices at $9-$l 1. For utilities it was a good opportunity to reexport to a higher priced market."
