The development of superconductor/insulator/superconductor (SIS) tunnel junctions in the cupiate high-temperature superconductor family has been hampered by an anisotropic structure and a coherence length £ as short as 0.3 nm. However, the discoveryof Ba_(1-x)K_x-BiO_3 (x≈0.4) superconductor which is an isotropic cubic structure and has a moderately long coherence length zeta (≈5 nm), has provided not only another opportunity to examine the pairing mechanism in perovskite superconductors but alsogiven us a possibility of fabricating SIS tunnel, junctions of high quality, Fink et al. have prepared hysteretic Josephson junctions from YBCO/SrTiO_3/BKBO trilayer films, and observed Shapiro steps and self-induced steps. BKBO/I/BKBO sandwitch-type junctions have also been reported, among which the insulator layers are BaBi_2O_y, SrTiO_3, KNbO_3, MgO, etc, Gap structure was seen commonly, some having low leakage current. Recently, BKBO thin films have been deposited using various techniques includingmolecular beam epitaxy (MBE) by rf magnetron sputtering and by pulsed laser deposition (PLD). We prepared single-oriented superconducting BKBO thin films on LaALO_3 (100) substrates by PLD technique, and discussed the influences of substrate temperature in the deposition process.
