When incorporated in coating compositions,compounds comprising bicyclo-orthoester groups are associated with a number of advantages over compounds with free hydroxyl groups.These advantages include.a reduced requirement for the addition of volatile viscosity-reducing solvents;substantially higher viscosity of the coating composition,resulting in reduced sagging on application to a substrate;and a more favourable drying time ratio.
