The future for the production of poultry meat and eggs is bright, and although there are challenges on the road ahead, the industry can be sure of increasing demand for its products. This, however, means there is an increasing need for skilled production managers. The availability of such managers needs attention. Poultry meat is becoming increasingly popular as the healthy image of this protein supports the continuous rise in demand. Consequently, more chickens have to be grown at a very competitiveprice. The challenge of producing poultry meat at the lowest possible cost often means that smaller producers struggle to survive, and larger companies that can generally produce more efficiently take over. However, these larger companies are finding itan issue to find qualified production managers with experience. In some parts of the world it is already a cause for concern. Various companies are looking outside their home country for entrepreneurial youngsters to be trained on the spot for taking on production responsibilities.
