A year ago, on 11 March, the earthquake, tsunami and subsequent Fukushima nuclear disaster in Japan dominated news headlines. It was the biggest story of the year for the Australian Science Media Centre. As soon as news of trouble at the Fukushima nuclear plant broke, we quickly tracked down 13 different experts who provided crucial context for hundreds of journalists and debunked popular myths at a time when authorities were unable to comment.
