'Overpaint' is defined as a non-original paint layer that has been applied to an artwork or object,usually to conceal damage,or to 'improve' it according to changing fashions or social mores.In historic buildings overpaint has also been used to cover up out-of-date decorative schemes in response to changing use of rooms.
