Have you ever Contemplated writing or contributing to a chemistry or general science textbook or other student resource? If so, the following advice may be helpful. First, you need to be aware that the writing process is very intense and demanding, and takes far more time than many people realise. Writing a book is not the same as creating a set of summary notes. Far from it! You become totally immersed in the project. It requires passion, dedication, research skills, a close understanding and knowledge of the students and the problems they have, an ability to see the big picture and then give meticulous attention to detail, team work, a willingness to lay your work on the Line for others to critique and to listen to their advice, time-management skills as you work to tight deadlines, and, on top of all that, creativity and imagination.
