As we move toward the end of the first quarter in 2013, there is a fair amount to be positive about. Equity markets are returning to levels not seen since before the Great Recession. Manufacturing activity remains strong (for now, at least). And prospects for continued strength in the mergers and acquisitions (M&A) markets are promising. The political and regulatory environment, however, remains a wild card, and we will be watching closely as discussions about the U.S. debt ceiling evolve.
