The National Development & Reform Commission of China (NDRC) and Airbus Industrie (Toulouse, France) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) involving cooperation between the Chinese civil aviation industry and the European manufacturer. The MOU sets the frame for a further upgrade of the cooperation between both parties. It also describes a process for evaluating the fields of enhanced cooperation, including the possibility of a Final Assembly Line for single-aisle aircraft in China. Airbus' industrial cooperation with China dates back to 1985 when it signed its first agreement with Xi'an Aircraft Co. to produce and assemble access doors for Airbus A300/A310 wide-body aircraft in China. Five Chinese companies now manufacture Airbus aircraft components: Chengdu Aircraft Corp., Hong Yuan Aviation Forging & Casting, HAFEI Aviation Industry Co. Ltd., Shenyang Aircraft Corp., and Xi'an Aircraft Co.
