Fresh herbs are set for a new image this year. Looking to increase consumer awareness and consumption of members' produce, the British Herb Trade Association (BHTA) has just signed a deal with PR firm Sputnik Communications to launch a nationwide publicity campaign to get more people buying herbs. The decision is a leap of faith for the five member companies funding the project. "In the global food market we are small fry," says association chairman Mathew Prestwich. "We don't have marketing managers in our companies and we are moving into a totally new area of business, but between us we very much thought, 'let's do this, let's put our hands in our pockets and take a risk'."
