Our paper treats the problem of debonding initiation and growth of debonded area in a bonded two-layer plate-strip loaded with external compressive force and bending moment after the buckling process of the weaker layer has been completed. The conditions and parameters at which the weaker layer can locally buckle are studied where the possibility is considered that the stress state in the layers could be in elastic-plastic domain. The mathematical model for the determination of deflection state after the local buckling process of the weaker layer is presented. While the external bending moment is growing at a constant external compressive force, the length of the debonded area and the deflections state are evaluated. Calculated critical values of external compressive force and bending moment for local buckling of the weaker layer are compared with those obtained by an experimental approach. [References: 4]
