The prretaphosph e'tilopentndeen do anion, P_5-(I), the teraphosphacylopenta dienide ion P_4CH-(2), and the triphosphacyclobutenide ion P_3CH_2-(3) are formed beside other polyphosphates by the nucleophile cleaves of white phosphourus with sodium in diglyme. I also results from the reaction of lithium dihydrogenphosphide with white phosphorus and can be obtained pure in the form of a LIP5 solution after separting the other product. the common structural feature of 1,2,and 3 are rings with unsubstituted patomes of coordination number 2 that are stabilized by meso.
