(C(5)H(2)tBu(3)-1,2,4)(2)Pb] (1), [(C(5)HiPr(4))(2)Pb] (2), and [(C(5)iPr(5))(2)Pb] (3) have been obtained from PbCl3 and Li(C(5)H(2)tBu(3)-1,2,4), Na(C(5)HiPr(4)) and Na(C(5)tPr(5)), respectively. 3 exists as a 1:1 mixture of meso-3 and rac-3 which interconvert at elevated temperature via one-at-a-time rotation of isopropyl groups with Delta G(#) = 73.0 +/- 1.5/73.7 +/- 1.5 kJ/mol at 348 K. is slightly bent in the solid state with an angle of 170(1)degrees between the ring normals.
