In May, Russian suppliers are gradually losing ground in the coking coal spot market on the back of deterioratingfinished steel and merchant coke segments. Some sellers have made occasional offer price cuts, but new levels are yetto be supported with deals, as most buyers prefer to book coking coal under quarterly contracts. The price spread hastherefore remained the same as in April.
