In July, coal shipments from the Azov-Black Sea basin have grown since Turkish, Bulgarian and Greek generating companies are stepping up spot purchases after the short break. In June, a total of 1.68 mt was shipped via the basin.s ports, with some 1.97 mt scheduled for delivery in July. In addition, over 425,000 t of coal was in stock of Yuzhny, Nikolayev, Izmail and Berdyansk ports at the month start. As usual, the cargo is mostly transported under previously concluded contracts, from Ukrainian ports to Turkey, Bulgaria and Greece predominantly. Coal freight rates have increased in the Azov and the Black Seas since the beginning of July.
