Repsol, along with partners Sonatrach, RWE Dea and Edison International, has been granted approval to develop the North Reggane Project in Algeria. The project is one of Repsol's key upstream initiatives. The project includes development of five gas fields in the Reggane basin, 1,500 km southwest of Algiers. The project includes the well development, construction of surface facilities and installation of infrastructure required to commercially develop the fields. Repsol plans to begin producing gas from the project in mid-2016. Production will span 25 years at an average rate of 8 million cubic meters per day for the first 12 years.
