摘要

An endemic species of the Central European Rus sia, the Russian desman (Desmana moschata L. 1758) listed in the Red Data Book of Russia, has been stud ied well [1, 2]. This animal has a thickset body, about 500 g weight, 20 cm long, with the tail of the same length. The cylinder body is covered with dense hair, grayish or dark brown on the back and silver–white on the abdomen. A hair is widened at the granna, but nar rowed at the base; therefore, fur retains air well [3]. A coneshaped head with a long movable proboscis and wide nostrils on the top is placed on a short and immo bile neck well. It lives in burrows along banks of small rivers, former riverbeds and lakes. The basis of nutri tion is bottom invertebrates [4, 5]. It takes away a prey in a burrow and eats it in the open air.
