摘要

Electrostatic precipitators (ESP) are widely used for particulate control in industrial incineration plants.The overall mass-based collection efficiency for ESPs exceeds 99%.On the other hand,field measurements showed that within the sub-micron range there exists a "penetration window",where the collection efficiency for the number concentration is as low as 70-80% [Zhuang 2000].Especially particles in the size range below 2,5 p.m are suspect to cause severe health effects [Pope 1995,Peters 1997].The characterisation of the particle collection efficiency in this particle size range as well as the particle re-entrainment is important for the optimisation of emission control devices.
