Isolated perforations of the small bowel resulting from blunt abdominal trauma are rare and difficult to diagnose because of their variable presentation, especially when their appearance is delayed. We report 2 such cases that were diagnosed by sonography and emphasize the usefulness of sonography in detecting bowel injuries after blunt abdominal trauma. Copyright 2000 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.
