摘要

Arsenic pentafluoride has found extensive use as a fluoride ion acceptor and oxidant in the field of synthetic inorganic fluorine chemistry.A detailed,laboratory-scale synthesis of high-purity,HF-free AsF_5 from AsF_3 and F_2 gas at low temperatures under static conditions is described.The detailed synthesis of HF-free AsF_3 is also described.Arsenic pentafluoride is an important reagent in several facets of synthetic inorganic fluorine chemistry.Arsenic pentafluoride(m.p.-79.8 deg C;b.p.-52.8 deg C)[1] is a gas at room temperature and is often preferred over the stronger Lewis acid,SbF_5(a viscous liquid at room temperature)because of its ease of handling in vacuum line systems.
