摘要

This year, the good news for tomato growers is that researchers seem to be getting a better handle on the deadly tomato spotted wilt virus in many parts of California. The bad news is that the virus seems to be showing up in areas where it previouslyhadn't been a problem, including Stockton and some northern growing areas. "As for tomato spotted wilt, the worst years were in 2005 and 2006. It began getting better in 2007, coincidentally enough when we started working on it," said Bob Gilbertson, a University of California Davis researcher. "The incidence in general has been going down, and a lot of that is because we've been learning so much about it."
