摘要

The changed global scenario of industrial development fosters a drive for competitiveness based on improved quality in all functions of an organization. For coal production men, machinery and materials are three important inputs. Healthy mining personnel, healthy operating equipment and good quality of coal are required to meet the desired productivity, profitability targets duly protecting environment and ensuring safety. In line with increasing global concern for quality, environmental protection and occupational health and safety, SCCL has taken strategic decision to implement ISO 9001:2000 (QMS), ISO 14001:2004 environmental management system (EMS) and occupational health and safety assessment series 18001:1999 (OHSAS) at PK OC-II project. PK OC-II has become the first project to implement all 3 management system i.e. QMS, OHSAS and EMS in entire Indian coal industry. However, the present study is limited to the study of main steps towards ISO 9001:2000( QMS) development, implementation and improvements of PK OC-II project and the same are discussed.
