For the coating of new products in the field of flexible electronics the requirements for the uniformity of the layers across the web and in the machine direction are often much higher than for conventional coatings, such as adhesive tapes or paper coatings. Thus, the uniformity is necessary, for example, to achieve high efficiency, or a high load capacity, as with batteries. This requires a careful selection of the tools with which such a high quality product shall be produced. Choosing the perfect coating die is crucial in the manufacture of these high quality products. Already in Research and Development (R&D) forward-looking decisions are made for the production method. The selected coating head must meet all quality characteristics. Saving quality or making the wrong choice in the development phase may be very costly.
