Sterna rebaudiana is likely to become a major source of high potency sweetener for the growing natural food market world wide. It is in this context, the present project was undertaken to develop a fast and efficient protocol to propagate S. rebaudiana by tissue culture. From the results it came out that MS basal supplemented with 13.5 muM BAP + 8.0 muM NAA showed best performance compared to 13.3 muM BAP alone with respect to bud breaking in S. rebaudiana, while combination of 13.3 muM BAP + 61.8 muM AdSO4 and 13.5 nM BAP + 8.0 muM NAA in MS basal medium showed enhanced shoot multiplication. l6.1 muM NAA + 10.7 muM BAP showed significant enhancement in the induction of rooting as compared to 16.1muM IAA alone. The best callusing was observed in themedia containing 10.7 muM NAA + 8.8 muM BAP.
