This article1 reported that the benefit of using a free fibula with physis in the paediatric population, is the potential for growth. The authors used a free fibula with physis and fibula head vascularised solely by the peroneal vessels. Yet, it should be emphasised that the physis of a fibula does not get sufficient .blood supply from the peroneal vessels and thus I am concerned that the elegant reconstruction reported will not grow as hoped, and that the technique will be adopted by others without due consideration of the vascularity of the physis and fibula head.
