Lymphaticovenular anastomosis has been recognized as the most efficient and the less invasive method to treat chronic lymphedema. Different configurations of lymphaticovenular anastomosis have been described, in view to create an effective lymphatic drainage through the venous network. The nomenclature is based on the geometrical shape of the configuration. Each shape tallies with a letter of the Greek alphabet. The type of configuration depends on the anatomy of the vessels (lymphatics and venules), their caliber and the preference of the operator. Usually, lymphatic vessels and subdemal venules are adjacent and have a parallel course.
