Dr. Levy and colleagues should be commended for their study of a nonmedical treatment approach for aggressive behavior.1 Aggressive and disruptive behaviors are the most common Yeasons for pediatric outpatient mental health referrals. Aggressive children are often reflexively treated with psychotropic medications that can have significant side effects, particularly with respect to weight and associated ~ changes in glucose and lip id metabolism.2 From 1992 to 2002, the prescription of atypical antipsychotics alone for the treatment of such problems increased sevenfold, a trend that has been shown to continue.3' The availability of effective nonmedical therapies is of vital importancei-n minimizing the risk of medication side effects, and also to support sustained behavioral improvements beyond acute treatment.
