摘要

Cartosat-2 series is the Advanced Remote Sensing Satellites of ISRO and they carry a Panchromatic Camera for taking the High Resolution Imageries of the Earth. Prior to transmission to the ground, the Data Transmission system does the formatting and processing of the payload data and transmit them to ground through X-band QPSK transmitters. Several new techniques, developments and technologies are incorporated in this high speed system such as JPEG DCT based compression system, high capacity solid state recorder, channel coding, encryption of the video data, and thermal management for space application. The total system is designed with the state of the art technologies and has 100% redundancy. The on orbit performance till date is quite satisfactory as indicated by the data received and excellent imagery products generated of several parts of the globe. This paper briefly describes the features and performance of this high data rate transmission system which has been designed, developed and qualified for the Indian Cartographic Satellites.
