Causes of dental infcciions can he rehited to failed dental eruption, malocclusion, ahra.sion. fractures with or without exposure of the dental pulp, and jhriodonial disease. Reports of oral myiasis in megaveriehraies in captivity are inlrequent, perhaps due to the dijiliciilty in ohsening the oral cavity in such species. This report descrihes a case of oral myiasis in an adult male hippopotanuis in the gingival area and alveolar mucosa of the left maiidihular canine tooth.
