摘要

Present work is an attempt to document traditional veterinary practices. The region is mainly agriculture dependant and population of domestic animals such as catties, sheeps, goats, etc. is large. Most of the people are with marginal income. Traditional veterinary practices are still dominant. Twenty villages representing cross section of Khamgaon taluka were surveyed. About twenty people were interviewed. Unlike human practices there are no special medicine men treating animals. Veterinary treatments are given by people possessing domestic animals. Present survey resulted in recording 25 plant species belonging to 19 families, that are commonly used to treat various ailments. Local names of ethnomedicinal herbs are noted. Details of drug preparation and mode of treatment etc. also documented.
