摘要

Because of its high clinical success and low complication rate, endovenous laser treatment (EVLT) has become the procedure of choice in the past 10 years to treat lower-limb varicose veins (1). EVLT is often used in conjunction with stab avulsion (SA) or ambulatory phlebectomy to remove unsightly varicosities. These are minor procedures that can be performed with the use of local, tu-mescent anesthesia, with good cosmetic results and low complication rates. Necrotizing fasciitis is a rare infection with a reported incidence in the United States of approximately 1,000 cases per year (2,3). It is a highly lethal condition with mortality rates as high as 25%-35% (4). We report a rare case of necrotizing fasciitis after EVLT and SA of lower-limb varicose veins. The institutional review board at our institution does not require an approval for case reports such as this.
