Aspirin has been effective in reducing cardiovascular morbidity and mortality in high-risk patients with myocardial infarction (MI) or stroke. There is conflicting evidence about the use of as-piriri (ASA) for primary prevention of cardiovascular disease (CVD) in patients with diabetes. The current evidence includes several randomized trials that examined ASA for primary prevention of CVD in patients with diabetes: 3 trials specifically for diabetics and 6 trials in which diabetics were in subgroups.
