210 periodontal pockets of 64 adult dogs were treated locally with minocycline and observed for 4 weeks. After scaling, root planning and curettage, drug was administered into 142 pockets once a week for 4 weeks, and 68 pockets that received an ointment base were controls. Debris index, pocket depth, bleeding on probing and pus discharge significantly improved 4 weeks after treatment compared with the control.
