摘要

In trials with rice cultivars Chikushi 8 and Hohoemi, grown in pots or field plots, the force required to push over the panicle culm (as a measure of lodging tolerance) was recorded at 10, 20 or 30 cm above ground level. Resistance decreased rapidlyas the distance above ground increased and measurement at 10 cm showed that least force was required at this height. Measurement of 15 individual plants was sufficient to give an accurate repeatable result.
