From the viewpoint of global environmental protection, the replacement of heavy products made of bar or plate materials by tubes processed by plastic working without deterioration of strength and rigidity, i.e., the characteristics of the former types of materials, while pursuing a light weight of the products. has attracted attention. However, to realize this, products must be manufactured precisely according to the designed values. In particular, the thickness deviation should be made as small as possible. In this study, the change of the thickness deviation was mainly examined for a phosphorous deoxidized copper tube and aluminum alloy tube subjected to precision double-tube processing by expanding drawing. Based on the experimental results. the following conclusions were obtained. 1) In order to obtain a precision double tube with small thickness deviation, a plug half-angle of 6°,13° or 20° can be used for a tube expansion rate of 5.5%. 14.7% or 18.7%. 2) Regarding the wall-thickness of the tube after double-tube processing, when the plug half-angle was constant at 20°, the wall-thickness of the inner tube (phosphorus deoxidized copper tube) decreased and that of the outer tube (aluminum alloy tube) increased for a tube expansion rate of 5.5%, 14.7% or 18.7%. 3) When the tube expansion rate in double-tube processing was 14.7%, the thickness deviation at the cladding of the inner tube (phosphorus deoxidized copper tube) decreased sharply, while that at the cladding of the outer tube (aluminum alloy tube) increased.
