A new approach to generating a non-planar shape-preserving interpolating curve is presented. Theresulting curve is a piecewise rational cubic that is G{sup}2 continuous. It is obtained through anoptimisation process involving some "fairness criteria", in order to achieve a visually pleasing curve.
