摘要

Brake delay time of drivers in case of emergency stopping of a forward vehicle was examined by our driving simulator experiment. The experiment consists of two situations: the predictable case in which the drivers can predict the emergencystopping and the unpredictable case in which they cannot predict it. Effectiveness of brake warning of the forward vehicle was also investigated. It was clarified that the brake delay time varied with the predictable or the unpredictable situation, andthe brake warning was useful to avoid the rear-end collision.
