There are currently many preparations based on fungi, microorganisms and plants that stimulate the growth and development of the cultures. The impact of the water-soluble bacterial melanin, obtained by the Institute of Biotechnology of Armenia, was studied. The preparation of melanin occurred on the basis of the mutagenesis of the industrial strain of Bacillus thuringiensis which was used in the production of bacterial insecticides. This mutant strain preserved the insecticide activity of its parental strain and produced water-soluble melanin. It was tested on more than 70 various cultures, including common species such as tomato, bitter and sweet pepper, beans, cucumber, maize among others. The preparation accelerated and intensified the seed germination, growth, branching (of shoots and roots), as well as it prolonged and enhanced fruit production. The pre-sowing soaking of the seeds with the melanin solution stimulated the germination, growth and fruit formation. Soaking of the basal cuttings in the melanin solution stimulated root formation, which increased the survival of the cuttings. Similar effects were recorded for Russian preparations such as Epin-extra, Zircon, Bioplant-flora, Mycephyt and Bisolbiphyt.
