The rate of agrochemical product approvals in japan slowed down in 2003 as regulators and companies grappled with changes to the country's agrochemical registration system.Amendments to japan's Pesticide Law came into force in March 2003(Agrow No 422,p 22)and new food safety rules were introduced in May(Agrow No 428,p 17),primarily to support government efforts to prevent the use of unregistered products.At the time,industry representatives expressed concern over the additional workload for companies and regulators in generating and evaluating data.
